There is something about April in Ann Arbor that just hits different. The city comes alive in a way that reminds you why this place has such a pull, and why so many people who leave eventually find their way back.
This month has a little bit of everything. On April 9th, indie duo Now Now takes the stage at The Ark on North Main. If you have never been to a show there, it is one of those intimate venues where the experience always seems to outperform expectations. Good music, good energy, easy parking nearby.
Then on April 10th, FoolMoon returns with its 2026 theme: Fools of a Feather. This is one of those only-in-Ann-Arbor events. Hundreds of community-made luminary sculptures, a nighttime processional through downtown starting at 8pm, and a street dance that draws people from all over Southeast Michigan. It is free, it is weird in the best way, and it consistently sells the city better than any marketing campaign ever could.
Later in the month, on April 25th, Arthur Miller Theatre hosts 2 X 2, a genre-defying mix of dance and storytelling put on through the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. If you enjoy performance that does not fit neatly into a category, this one is worth checking out.
Here is what I always notice this time of year. Events like these are not just fun. They are a reflection of what the community actually values. Creativity, connection, and a shared sense of place. That is not something you find everywhere.
And for people who are thinking about buying or selling in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, or the surrounding area, that culture is part of the value. Location matters. Neighborhood matters. But so does the life that exists around the home.
If you have been thinking about a move, whether you are coming into this market or figuring out your next step, I am happy to walk you through your options. No pressure, just clarity.
